I was just wondering if you thought maggots would be a suitable food choice for leo's. I live in a high dairy producing area so we have tons of flies here. Would the maggots have any health risks to my pets?

Phoenix worms are, essentially, maggots. We use those as feeders all the time. But they're captive bred. If you were going to feed the maggots that you find outside, though, I'd suggest you don't do that. It's never really the best idea to feed "wild" bugs to your pets because you don't know what they've been into or what they could be carrying

Is this the same thing as fly larvae? As Khrysty pointed out, it's not a good idea to feed our pets insects from outside. We gutlaod feeders with healthy things to provide a nutritious diet. Potatoes, carrots, other veggie scraps and chicken mash is commonly used. According to geckowiki, fly larvae is nutritious, but they do stress gutloading.
