Not eating...

I got this little leo a 8 days ago. It has not eaten since I got it. My question is...Should I worry? I heard that somtimes they take up to a couple of weeks to get adjusted. Is there anything I should watch for?

It's in a ten gallon with a UTH, dig. therm, 3 hides, dish with pure cal and mealworms traded out every day, Papertowels and a shallow water dish, and a reostat. This is my first baby. Any help would be useful. I don't know how old. Heres a pic, maybe you can tell.

I think pinheads are too small. I'd suggest 1/4" or 'small' crickets. What temperature is the warm spot at?

My newest baby I got for x-mas didn't eat for a week when she came, I wouldn't worry quite yet, they can get stressed really easy.

I have been keeping it at around 93 at the highest and it goes down to about 82 at night. I have a reostat on the UTH and keep a good eye on it all day. I don't bother it, except for exchanging mealies and spraying the moist hide(I spray it outside the tank), checking and filling water as needed. It is in my room, a quiet spot with natural light.

There really isn't a need to turn the heat off at night. How are you measuring the temps? Is that the surface temp? So long as it's the surface 93 is good for the warm side day and night.

Sometimes it does take a bit for them to start eating.

I am using a digital thermometer with a probe, and it is in the hottest spot in the tank, taped to the paper towel so it doesn't move. I don't physically turn down the temps. It just fluctuates that low at night. My thermometer has a high and low temp reading and I check it every morning. Heres a pic of the tank.

Its in that spot in the corner every morning and doesn't move. I hope it ventures out at night.

Looks like you are doing every right. I would just give him time to settle in and get used to his new home.

One thing, you may want to give him a smaller hide, one lower to the ground, they feel safe when in smaller spaces.

I have great news!:D I put in five small crickets last night, and when I woke up the tank was trashed. And there were a pile of poop and some guts spread all over the place. It must be hiding in the moist hide, because there is poop in the dry one.:D I never thought I would get so excited over poop!

Thanks everyone! I'll keep you posted.

It could also be hookworms. They can cause a gecko to have bloody, runny stools. I'd get him/her to a vet.

All my Leos are rescues. This is my newest one and my first baby. I am currently soaking in a sugar water solution and have damp papertowels in a smaller container I have put Whitey in. When I put him in the soak I could see that it has gone in almost all the way. I know that there is a chance that it will hapen again so im still looking for a vet.

I know you said the temps in the smaller container were not right, so you may want to take a few things out of his normal tank and let him in that. Keep his temps right, the paper towels moist (not soaking wet) and keep doing the sugar soaks along with the prep h or ky and hopefully you can find a vet.
