Well I got two geckos back on march 14th at a show and the male is hunting crickets and taking food from my hand, the female i leave mealworms in the tank and toss in dusted crickets and she refuses to eat, her tail is getting thinner while the males tail is getting thicker. She's also evil and tries to bite me every time I try to pick her up or look at her to see if she's alright. They're in separate tanks set up exactly the same way, so whats wrong and what can I do?:main_huh:

Then I would guess she's either a) not interested in the food you're trying, or b) not quite adjusted to her new home yet.

If it's...
a) I'd try another sort of feeder: roaches, phoenix worms, waxworms, etc. Or rip a mealie in half and rub its guts on her face. She'll start to lick it off, then usually will end up taking the whole thing and eating it.
b) Just give her more time. Different geckos adjust to change at different rates. She'll eat when she's ready.

I've had her since March 14th so its about to be three weeks since i've had her? How long does it take to adjust? and she gets crickets, mealworms, and waxworms and doesnt eat any of it. So she doesnt lack for variety. I'm also allergic to roaches so I wont be feeding those.

Take a temp reading of the warm end surface.it should be 90-95 deg.She needs to get used to her new surroundings.Dont try picking her up it'll just stress her some.Cover all four sides of her enclosure and leave her be.The first week uncover one side the next week another side etc...I've had juveniles not eat for 6 weeks before they gave in and ate.

Can u post a pic.Your really jumping the gun on the force feeding issue. Its only been 3 weeks.i know to u its a long time but it may take longer for her to get used to surroundings.Unless she was real thin when u got and she has lost a ton of weight I would hold off unless its a matter of life or death. To force feed her now will really stress her out.leave her totally isolated and alone with the exception of giving her water

I would say get a fecal sample to a herp vet but she is not making them...

What substrate are you using?

Could try a warm soak or just go to the vet without a sample. I did that once and the gecko got so pissed it pooped while at the vet so that gave us the sample.

Be careful when handling anything in the blizzard's enclosure and or that she may have gotten in contact with. You want to wash your hands after touching these things and especially before touching your other gecko or things in his enclosure or feeders. If it is a parasite problem then you dont want to spread them to your other gecko.

i just scrubbed down her whole enclosure and took out the crickets in case they were picking on her and just left the mealworms in there.

Well I found a vet finally that sees reptiles but they wanted to charge me $200 to see her and to get a fecal done.
