Definately explain to your parents that lack of variety can be detrimental to their health. I mentioned hornworms and silkworms and you did not seem interested in considering them:)

Would you like to fill out the husbandry questionaire?

I'm not sure what you exactly meant on that last sentence.

Sorry if my posts made me sound ungrateful on the advise you gave me so far but I'm honestly not. I just want to try dubias first since I think my leo will respond to that more. I'm only asking about the tub size because most care sheets out there don't specify the size of the tubs and all the setup examples I found were for large colonies.

That information can help me when I explain it to my family better.

The reason I asked if you wanted to fill out the questionaire was to double check your husbandry to see if it can be related to your leo being overweight.

Theroachguy.com

That has just about everything you need explained in regards to the roaches.

Thank you for website. That's a lot helpful then the other site I was looking at.

As for the questionnaire...WHERE IS IT? I can't find anywhere.

Okay I have to go to classes now. Will look at this in a couple of hours.

There are many reasons for a reptile to have poor feeding responce. One of the many reasons could be temperatures.

You mentioned:
Problem is Vastervik won't eat any other feeders since other feeders aren't active or big enough for his taste

I just wanted to make sure his temps were warm enough to digest efficiently.

Seriously tho what is the minimum tub size for 50 dubia roaches??

When I got my first 50, I put them in a critter tote, nothing big or fancy. Since they don't jump, chirp, or fly, they don't need a lot of space. Just put enough egg crates in there for them to hide, you can check out the guides on how to take care of them.

I like buydubiaroaches.com, their price is awesome.

Thank you Mardy~!

As for reps4life's question, his warm end is always around 88-90 degrees. His cool end is usually 78-82 degrees.

He only ate two crickets last feeding which was two nights ago but I don't think that's anything to worry about since I saw Vastervik this morning going into shed in his humid hide.

88-90 is a bit low for digestion. Can you bring it up a bit so that it's between 90-95?

That gecko s sooooo obese, he didn't need those two crickets. I don't now why you insist on overfeeding this animal, but please, for his own good, cut back!!!!

Okay to update all, here's the list of things I've just now decided to do to help Vastervik lose weight:

1. No more superworms.
2. Planning to buy dubia roaches next week. (not this week since I have no dates where I'll be home in time for the delivery)
3. Going to check local pet supply stores tomorrow (both around my home AND the ones near my college) for any other non-fattening feeders to try out. (Might retry silkworms again)
4. Extending feeding to once every four nights.
5. Only offering two calcium dusted food items per feeding.
6. Will continue to exercise the leo by taking out of his cage every day and have him constantly moving for 10-15 minutes.

Now we are all on the same page.

There's no such thing as instant results. I only mentioned this to you guys on this forum yesterday and I've been trying to get him to lost weight for only four days.

I'm open to all suggestions for what should or shouldn't change on my list but don't just give me a vague "cut back"! I got enough of that comment two pages ago. Be like reps4life and actually giving me productive advice. Thank you!
