Obsessed Male

I took Buddy out of his cage and let him have the run of the computer table while I was online after a few minutes I noticed that he had disappeared, he apparently bailed off the back of the desk. After about 15 min I found him behind the love seat. No harm no foul, but since his little escape he seems obsessed with getting out, he's stopped eating, and all he does is stare straight up at the top of his cage, or climb his hammock and claw at the doors of the enclosure. He started climbing the foam backing and falling off, so I added some wood to give him something to climb, which he does, but only to get as close to the top as he can and lift his head straight up and look longingly at the metal screen. He is usually an aggressive little fellow and feeding him has never been a problem. Nothing wrong with temps and he has everything he needs. I know that a few weeks of not eating isn't going to kill him and he still has plenty of fat in his tail. But he spends every waking moment fixated on freedom. Anyone experienced similair behavior?

I have a male normal named Phoenix that loves to come out. Usually he'll ride around on my shoulder or explore behind the couch pillows. If he figures out how to get under the couch, he'll try it again immediately. If I don't take him out as often as he'd like, he starts trying to dig his way out of the side of the glass tank. I had a female in with him for a few months and there was no digging or trying to get out, but he pestered her too much and her health started to suffer. As soon as I separated them, the digging started up again. I guess he just likes company.
