Odd behavior

Hello, my name is Kevin and I apologise in advance for the lengthy post.

I've had my Leo, Lilly, for a year. I adopted her but she appeared to have been very well cared for. She's always been a great eater but never would touch crickets, or anything faster than a mealworm. She resides in a 20 long with a hide on the warm side(85-95) and cool side and also has a humid hide. Her enclosure is kept clean and has a water dish and calcium supply available at all times. She's about 8 inches nose to tip of the tail(not sure on weight) Tail is super fat. She usually spends almost all of her time in her hides, regularly comes out to get a drink and climbs on top of her warm hide at night. This is her routine has been since she settled in.

The problem-Lately her routine has changed drastically. She is no longer interested in food, spends almost all of her time out of the hides. I figured when her appetite slowed it was because of winter, but the activity seems odd to me. On top of this I noticed, this morning, that she drags her belly when she walks around the enclosure. If she spooks she stands up and runs like normal, but when she's just wandering she drags. Also she has gotten into the habit of climbing up my arm when I change the water and check on her which she never did before. She has spent some time with a male though I don't think it was long enough to mate. I can't see any eggs on her underside and she is starting to lose weight not gaining, her humid hide sits on the heat pad and is kept moist so she's got a place to lay if this is the case. She is alert and knows whats going on around her.

So could this behavior mean she is uncomfortable? or mean she wants to mate?

I appreciate any advice and help!
Thank you
Kevin

Could you get a clear picture of her belly, stretched out? Then we may be able to tell you if it's related to being gravid, or what not. Occasionally females will go off food before laying eggs. She could also just be ovulating, especially if she's been around a male. This can also cause them to go off food.

Well apparently I'm not very observant, she started to shed so I'll get the picture when she's finished. I know shedding can cause lack of appetite, but this was before she was getting ready to shed also.
I never thought about ovulation, could this cause weight loss, she hasn't eaten in probably 3 weeks.

Normally it wouldn't be that long. If you google, you can see pictures of ovulating females, and pictures of females carrying eggs. Same thing can be found here on the forum. You can compare those pictures to your girl.

Thanks, I will search for those photos. How long does ovulation usually last?

It might just be me, but it looks like she is ovulating. I could be wrong, considering I have only seen one ovulating female in my life.

If so, it is more visible on the right side of her belly.
Let some other people post.

Thanks Wreptile! It's hard to see because shes so fat, and I really don't know what I'm looking for. Hopefully more people will weigh in.
Thanks again!

It's kind of hard to tell from that pic but it does kind of look like she could be ovulating. It can take only minutes for Leos to mate so if you walked out of the room while she was with a male they could have mated. Just give her a laying box in case the eggs form (fertile or infertile) and she needs to lay.

You welcome. :)
As I said before, I've only seen one ovulating female before in real life.
What I noticed was, mine got really wide down by her hips. And a couple days before she laid the eggs, you could see pink ovals on her sides.

Thank you both, I'll definitely keep an eye on her. Right now I'm using paper towels in her humid hide, is this OK for her to lay in or should I replace the towels with moss or something else?
