My kenyan sand has taken on a tad bit of a new...persona. Ever since i found her shes been more active in the tank and imo, just acting more healthy(probably helped she is in a proper set up now and being fed). She hasnt shed since i got her but im not letting it concern me yet, shes supposidly 2.
Her feed responce has also been better, however her agression is ...yikes. Dont think ive met a snake this mean yet. I tried to move her from her feeding box to her tank(i normaly wait an hour after feeding) and she went for my hand, got her in the tank and she turned and went for it again. I was changing her water bowl and as you can guess, she came up out of the aspen at me. This week shes been acting a tad off, she has been in her water bowl for the 3rd night now, not actually in it but she hovers her head above the water, her temps all check out, nothings changed. Tonight however she stayed in this position

She was like this for maybe 2 hours. I got a tad concerned so i gave a quick tap on the glass, she didnt move. Normaly if i come up to the tank she hides, i got concerned so i(being an idiot of epic proportions) reached in the tank and nudged her back. Lets say she finnaly managed to connect.

Her last feeding was sunday, shes not in shed from what i can see, no cloudy eyes or scales. Any ideas on what im doing wrong?

check for impaction, i had desert kingsnake did similar thing, turns out she eating some substrate and ended up with abcess and died.

I fed mine when out the tank everytime, fun to watch also less chance on impaction, also so snake learns when i put hand in tank it not food, learnt with having cornsnake previous as it went for me everytime i went in tank.

When fed out of tank it learned i was either changing water or handling, food onlky came after handling and on my floor. That what i did anyway.

Crap i hope its not impaction, is there a easy way to check without going to the vet? She stopped hanging out by the water bowl though, i havnt seen her in a day(normal).

Just checked in on her, she seems pretty normal, aside from trying to bite me...again. Love her soooo much. Never thought a Ksb would be so fast. No odd stomache lumps or lethargice behaviour(im positive on that). Is it possible she was having issues but pooped it out?

Well for me near her belly there was lump or swelling quite noticeble, depending on size of snake mine was 4 foot, lump was 8 or so inches from end of tail.

Yikes...yeah no she isnt showing any of that(shes 17" about, though its belived she is stunted). I wonder if she isnt just moody? Would she react to breeding season?

ok, glad ok, if poss try feeding when out of tank that way wont go for u all the time u put hand in, im no expert only had three snakes but i only learnt from mistakes, it seems to work for me. Also handle more often will help with it going for you try starting few minsat a time and prolong it longer every time. Hope this helps

I always feed out of the tank in a bin. Its been a rough adjustment for her(she used to just get a live pinkie thrown in her sand covered unheated tank once a month). I started her the minute i brought her home and she was well behaved(well probably stressed and scared). I guess ill up her handleing. One thing that makes feeding a pain is that shed perffer to grab and pull something under substrate then to eat in a open bin(i cover it with towels but still..)

Not a expert at all when becomes too breeding lol

Wouldnt be temp as all snakes i seen or had when cold they wasnt bothered i pick them up my lil brother or my partner they just wanna be handled cos of heat from us. Alternative in summer my snakers where all more active i think this due to heat.

If your snake going for you all the time, can you handle it at any time? If you can handle it more often/ longer periods of time, also feed when put of tank so it knows when you put hand in it not just for food. Also do you feed it live or dead food??

I feed frozen in bins. I can handle a few bites to the hand dont worry about that, ive seen worse(she doesnt really break skin much). Her bites are defensive, she quickly bites and then disappears.

As thought dont feed live! when feed live yes good for snake to hunt etc etc but makes moving things a possible target. I always fed dead pinkys and was told if i ever fed live they wouldnt be the same again, just what i was told. Keep bin heated as well as a option.
I loved my snakes but lack of site seeing not active etc etc pushed me towards a lizard. Also not owning a lizard was a plus.

I dont mean to offend but for translation purpose, is english your first language? I can understand if its not dont worry, When i said i fed frozen, that means dead. Frozen/thawed mice are dead. I know the issues with tank feeding and live food.
