Odd question...

I have a male and female mack snow pair that are siblings, for this reason I havent bred them together. However.. they are two now and have been together since birth (they were sent to me at maybe a week old, in a box in the mail) and they have never had eggs, non-fertile or otherwise. When the male became of age/weight I watched them CLOSELY!!! He has not once mounted her. My question is........

Is the reason for this BECAUSE they are related like they are?

Does anyone else have an example like this where siblings that were sexually mature were kept together without offspring??? I keep thinking that Nan is like "get off me, im your sister!!" So he has tried and shes not receptive at all, he doesnt even get close...his tail rattles and then.....
All she does is turn her back/tail to him and he stops walking towards her... Now I know thats not the case but it seems a bit odd to me that I didnt have to separate them... Not that I am complaining they appear to be content just how they are....

I haven't experienced this with siblings, but I do find that geckos kept together all the time have reduced mating interest in each other. I have 2 local acquaintances who have male/female geckos they keep together with the understanding that I"ll incubate any eggs that are produced. Very few eggs have been produced. When I put my males with my females in Jan, there is lots of mating activity until about this time of year when they seem to lose interest, but if I were to put a new female in, the male would get going again.

Yeah... thanks for the input. He has been introduced to other females and had success, with being accepted however no eggs came about... he is not accurate AT ALL

but with his sister... she just isnt having it... not once in 2 years- which is good b/c its a rare situation where I can keep a male and female together without having to worry at all... thus far. She doesnt even have to flee from his attempts and there has never been a bite mark on either of them.. :main_thumbsup:

Anyone else have something related to the topic at hand?

I have a rescued pair and they have...as far as we were told always been together ( he is 13 and she is 12) and have only laid eggs once. We have had them for almost 6 years now and she laid once right after we got her ( 1 single fertile egg) and has never laid any egg since. I dont think that they were clutch mates but they were just never a productive pair.
