I'm about to get a california king snake and i have a few Qs.
1. is it okay to keep them on sand?
2. if you can't keep them on sand, what is a goog ODERLESS substrate? something that won't smell weird or mold.
I believe it's alright to keep your cal king on sand. I know Bob Applegate used to keep his on sand, not sure if he still does. Impaction is not as much of an issue as it is with geckos, but still something to look out for. I use aspen for my kings and milks. It gives them something to burrow in, and it naturally combats smell.
