So, I started training a new girl last week. She is from a Temp Agency. The position is a Temp to Permanent opportunity. She SUPOSSEDLY had experience with some of the applications we use (I found out she lied about that on her resume). And, she really isn't the brightest bulb in the pack. She doesn't even know that 6 Months is half a year (Yes, I am serious).

But, putting that aside. Today she answered the phone and the person had a question that she couldn't answer. So, she told them "Hold on, and I will give you to my secretary", meaning me. :main_angry: :main_huh:

Her Secretary??????????? I corrected her on that right away...secretary...Really! This girl isn't even smart enough to be my secretary, never mind me being her secretary. I have a feeling that this Friday will be her last day :main_rolleyes:

Don't you hate people like that? I started my job with no accounting experience and basically had to train myself since my boss was lazy, and then it came time for me to train someone to do my job. I thought it would be a piece of cake since she was just about to graduate with a degree in accounting. Three months later I was still training her and I went to my boss frustrated because she was an idiot. That was her last day.

Bring it up to your boss. They don't really like being lied to and paying people to sit around and pick their noses.

You should give her a huge stack of things you need to do and BRIEFLY explain it to her, like it is her job to do, as if you were her secretary. She will crack.

OMG! I AM ABOUT READY TO STRANGLE HER! She has absolutely NO common sense!

One of the programs that we use is called Datasweep, it is kind of like Access. One of the screens is called an Approval screen, and one of the "Boxes" in the screen asks how the order was approved. I have explained to her MANY times that you either put the persons name thats approving it, if you had to call the customer. Or, if it's on contract, put the contract # there instead. She keeps putting in the Purchase Orfer # :main_huh:

So, I go over to her desk and noticed that she put the purchase order # in that field AGAIN. All the orders I have been giving her have all been on contract, so she doesn't have to call any customers during her training period, so all she has do is put the contract # there.

So, I explained it again to her (probably the 5th time). She still didn't understand what she did wrong. So, I asked her "Did you call the customer for approval?" She said yes :main_huh: I asked her again, are you sure you called them, again, she said yes, I started to get aggravated because I know she didn't call anyone (I sit right next to her), so I said, "So, you picked up the phone, called the customer, explained the repair and price to her and got a verbal approval?", she said "I think so", finally I said "No, you didn't, it's on contract, so all you have to do is put the contract # in the box." She was still confused after that.

Now, I honestly think she is either REALLY slow or on drugs :main_lipsrsealed: But, seriously though, she is a complete and waste of my time. If they have her come back next week, I am going to LOSE it!

I have been keeping my boss aware of the situation. He wants to let her finish out the week. Hopefully I will have some hair left in my head after that!

I just found out she can't spell either, I am going thru my files, they are supposed to be in alphabetical order, she has them all messed up.

AND, she told me that she can't read cursive??????????

You do know that employers get compensation for hiring people with 'special needs'. Maybe it's one of those cases. :main_lipsrsealed:

I'd tell her not to touch your stuff, and write everything you possibly can in cursive.

Yes she does, because if it were me in Jeanne's shoes, someone would be dead after one 8 or 9 hour day, and it wouldn't be me. :main_evilgrin:

Well, I had to stop myself a few times, I almost lost it. And I am pretty sure that she knows I am getting aggravated, because sometimes I catch myself sighing and then kind of laughing at her, but it's the type of laugh you do when you are mad.

The funny thing is, the stuff that I am teaching her now is the bare basics of the job, this is the easiest stuff that she will learn, and she screws it up.

And, it looks like she may be staying, my boss kind of hinted to me that they are keeping her, he said "But, nobody else is applying for the job". Well, I would rather be alone than have to work with her! I told him to get a business account on Monster and let me look through the online resumes. I don't think he will do it. He's probably worried that I would find a better person for the job than him.

I would love to pile the work on her and let her totally screw up, but, management would see it as a sign of me not being able to train her good enough. I just have to wait for her to put her foot in her mouth and get caught.

One of my best customers called today, and she thought he was a girl, his name is Joe, and she kept calling him "Joyce". Needless to say, he won't talk to her anymore, if I'm not available he just tells her to ask me to call him back.

Why is it so hard to find Good Help these days????

Hm..Joe, Joyce...I get those mixed up everyday :p. LOL. I admire you for putting up with her thus far, hopefully your boss will realize that having no help might be better than having her "help".

This is why I'm a nurse. If you screw up then somebody fills out a tracking report on you. Or if it's a big enough mistake they fire you on the spot. You just hope nobody died from the mistake.
