Ok, I know I am OCD, but did anyone else "potty-train" their gecko?

I just don't like the idea of poop-germs getting on the carpet. And of course, when I go to pick up feces, I'm worried about smushing it INTO the carpet.

So this works for me. :D

Luckily for us, the geckos are already potty trained. Once I figure out where they're going to go I actually use a bathroom tile (I made some ceramic ones with edges that say "POOPS" on the spot and just pick it up and brush off the poop.

yeah, I knew they were ritualistic about using the same spot (based on the consistent little experience I have so far). I was just wondering if anyone else used a "catch-pan" for it. :D

My fiance was able to get his geckos going in a shallow gladware container. My geckos on the other-hand....no one seems to do it regularly. In fact, one of my males will actually sleep in the "litter box". Haven't even tried with any of past season's hatchlings. Some are EXTREMELY messy little guys where they like to go in whatever clean spot they find. (Makes me wonder if they were crossed with crested geckos lol). Most of mine do go in a specific corner of the cage, but whenever I place a piece of tile, litter box, or even thicker paper towel covering in that area...they find another place to go. I've even moved and kept feces in the area I want them to go, thinking they would get the hint...but nope.

I just put an easily changeable piece of paper towel in their potty spot. Yep, they potty train themselves really.

I do the same with the paper towel. I only have one tank it doesn't work for. They change their potty spot whenever I clean the cage. They'll go in one spot for one week, then a different spot next week. All other 10 tanks though, cleaning day is easy!

The first time my little Leo pooped I took her poop and put it on a 4" x 4" ceramic tile in the back right corner of the terrarium. Ever since she has gone in the same spot every time. What is funny is that when she goes she will walk over put one leg up on the side of the glass and try to hit the gap between the tile and the glass. It's a pretty tight gap so most of the time she doesn't hit it. I have a Wi-Fi camera in her terrarium so that I can watch what she does every day and one day I pointed it towards the tile just to see how she goes and that's what I saw. All I do is take the tile out whenever there is a poo on it and wash it under hot water and wipe it dry with a towel. It is usually every other day or so.

Mine won't poop just on one side, it HAS to be in one hide. I have been putting a paper towel in there but sometimes he still misses. I did try moving a poop to a spot where it's easier for me but no luck.

I don't know if there is a way to actually "potty-train". I just put the tp where he chose. You might try taking that hide out for a few days to see if he chooses a new spot? Our 2 Leos that we have in tanks both choose the rear cool corner...coincidence??

Yeah mine uses the rear cool side. I have tried chasing his poop around and that's when he started going in the hide after I put paper towel inside it
