Ok, new thread for mealworms, I have a specific preference

Who sells mealworms online without those wood chips (saw dust like wood)?
I think I am allergic to it because I have never had a problem with mealworms before and I just bought some from petco in the deli cups with the saw dust and I havent been able to stop sneezing since yesterday.

The mealworms come in Weat Bran from petco. I just switched over to weat bran, it is healthier for the worms

Believe it or not. Some people are allergic to meal worms. I am prety sure Alberto told me a few years back he was allergic to meal worms. With some suppliers you can order your worms with or without Bran, but thats on orders over 1000. All the stuff packedged for stores will have bran.

Lots of us have mealworm allergies. I am particularly allergic to the worm casings, and sneeze and get really congested. If I touch my eyes after handling mealworms my eyes swell up, itch, and get watery.

The last ones I got came from LLL Reptile and they just came in a box with an egg crate.So much easier.That is who I am going to deal with from now on.The tape on the box said Rainbow Mealworms all over it,so I guess that is who they get them from.The order before this one had the wood chips....never again!

Wormman shops out in egg crates and it takes like 5 minutes to sort out mealworms and you're good for a couple of months. Theyre out of mealworms now but Ill try LLL. I just ordered from Bassets, Ill let everyone know how it goes.

Marcia, I have the same problem, I have to take a shower after I touch mealworms or else I will continue to sneeze and become congested.

I didn't know you could be allergic to them.I am allergic to just about anything you can think of,but not mealworms.

Val and I have a really hard time with the worms as well. It's random for us. Some days I can just blow my nose a few times after feeding...while other days I can get completely jacked up for 2-3 days. It's really annoying.

Wow sorry guys and gals, I did not realize so many people can't or maybe shouldn't be doing meal worms. I think I would surely try testing out substitutes if they were effecting me....
And continue to test other things to raise them in. People foods for gut loading. Take care. HJ

Add me to the mealworm allergy list. I get super stuffed up everytime I sort them and put them in bowls. I don't sneeze everytime, but I a lot of times I do.

Yay more people like me. I sneeze everytime I feed. Marcia I think its the casings that do it to me too, because I've tried switiching beddings and it doesn't help. The only thing that helps is Clariton.

Sunshine ships with out the bedding. They come in a cloth bag with newspaper actually. I usually break them up into small groups that'll get used in one night w/ Cody's bedding .

Recently due to the shortage, I have had to hit petco, and have noticed my eyes burning a little bit after feeding. The 500ct lasts me a couple days usually. Maybe try breaking them up into smaller containers. Though depending on your numbers, this might be impractical.

I get mine from nyworms.com. They come packaged in a mesh cloth with wadded newspaper. Probably takes me 5 mins to get them out of the bag and the newspaper. Hoping to be independent of having to order mealworms anymore. Mine are getting bigger everyday and hopefully I will have a self sustaining colony soon.
