Hey guys,
I have two 16qt tubs and was wondering if I could use one UTH to heat them both? 16qt's is about 4 gallons and the UTH is made for a 10 gallon so I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Kind of like this:
hot side of one tub_UTH_hot side of the other tub

yay or nay?

I have done this before with no problem. Just make sure you have a thermostat so the UTH doesn't melt the plastic. One way I did it was to set the UTH on a piece of plexiglass and put the tubs on top. A better way to do this is to get some heat cable (Zoo-med, for example) and tape it to the bottoms of the tubs.

I have another question and didn't want to make a new topic.
Say I housed a fat-tail gecko in one tub and a leo in the other.
I know fat-tails don't like it as hot as leos do but would it be possible to find a healthy medium for both geckos?

I run my UTH's off a thermostat that will power 3 UTH's. My fat tail tank is hooked up with the leopard gecko tank. My baby fat tails share a rack with my baby leos. I do mist the fat tails more, and the adults are in a planted tank to increase humidity, but I keep the temps the same with no problems.

well about the two different species I don't know. For one it would be kind of hot another kind of cold. How would you do the night cooldown thing? I would worry about the already cool one getting even colder.
But if it was two leos I wouldnt see why not!

Once again, I don't keep my fat tails and leos at different temperatures and though I have heard that fat tails may like a warmer ambient temperature, everyone seems to do fine with what I'm providing. THe Leopard Gecko Manual suggests a temp gradient for AFT's of 82-90. That would make the cool side probably hotter than what I provide, but the hot side is almost the same (92 vs. 90). The only difference would be for breeding fat tails which need to be cooled. I have just today separated my breeding AFT"s heat from the leopard geckos' heat control so I can start decreasing AFT temperature.
