This morning I woke up and noticed Gutlei's tank was quite messy; one corner of the carpet was digged up, a couple mealworms on the floor and some in the water dish. This was unlike Gutlei as she is usually very neat (unlike some of the boys). So, I looked for her and when I pipped inside her dry hide, I see a white blob; and Gutlei was sleeping under her wood. I removed the wood and hides and realised there are TWO eggs!! (Poor girl, I didn't offer any "diggable" area for her to lay those eggs...)
I have never bred any of my geckos, and I've already kept the girls for more than 6 years now. This is the first time I have a girl laid infertile eggs. Gutlei began ovulating around Jan-Feb; she has been eating less, around 6-10 mealworms per week, which is already very good compared to past years where she will eat absolutely nothing besides the few drops of babyfood slurry I gave her.
A couple questions:
- If she laid one pair of infertile eggs, does it mean she'll develop and lay another pair in 2-3 weeks time? I'll give her a nice big lay box tonight.
- Now she is very tired and sleeping, is she suppose to eat like a pig right after she laid those eggs? Am I suppose to worry if she doesn't eat much tonight?
Thanks.
