OK maybe iv been lucky in the past year. This time my new girl in with a new boy first year breeding produced 1 egg dud, 2nd clutch 2 eggs fertile, 3rd clutch duds. That is it!? Doesn't look like she is ovulating anymore. Because it was early in the spring is there a possibility of a second time around before winter?

IMO I dont think they can breed that quick.I would let her gain her weight back for next year

They are just newbies. The first clutch and maybe the second is infertle or one egg.

Sometimes it happens that way. I can't seem to get my snow projects off the ground for similar reasons...I will be making different pairings next year...

I concur, don't stress your girl with two rapid breeding cycles; let her get some fat back on her tail and some calcium back in her bones.

Same thing on this end, I started a super snow project this year, the male is a seasoned breeder but this is my females first time breeding, she laid one clutch but both eggs were infertile, that was quite awhile ago and she doesn't appear to be gearing up for any more. Darn.

A few years ago I had a first-timer that laid about 2 clutches and then didn't ovulate for 6 weeks. After that break, she got back in gear and laid 7 more clutches, most of which hatched.

Did you re-introduce her to the male? I was going to wait a month and reintroduce her again because the clutch she did lay was infertile but I figure it's her first yr so I think now I'll just let her ride it out and try aagin next season :)
