Ignore the SKU. Do these prices sound reasonable (the 18x18x18 is a front loader tank with a mesh screen top)? Is there anything I am missing? :main_robin:
By the way: I got all these supplies from reptmart.com. The bird's nest fern is a decoration

You can get a lot of this stuff for much cheaper. I recommend looking at LLLReptile.com, they have great, reasonably priced products.

I'll buy the feeders from reptmart.com. lllreptile has a few cheaper prices, but most is lots more. For 500 crickets, it's $10 from reptmart and $27 for lllreptile.
*EDIT* Nevermind. It includes the shipping cost :p

A 20 gallon long tank will be much cheaper and have more floor space. The 18x18x18 is ideal for an arboreal lizard. The 18 high is wasted space. It is likely cheaper to buy supplies at a local store unless you don't have one available. You may also be able to purchase all of these items at a local reptile show.

lllreptiles only sells 10 gallon long tanks. I'm really sorry for bothering you guys like this. I feel bad about it :p. The only reason the other product costs so much is that it includes books, dishes, thermometers, etc. I'm confusing myself. What I'm meaning to ask is: Do any of you know any other reptile sellers other than Reptmart and LLLreptiles that sells both supplies and animals? Oh, and sadly, I do not have a Petstore near me within 70 miles.

Another cheap way to heat a tank if flexwatt, The Bean Farm has 3" flexwatt for like 2.50 a foot, which is all you'll need, then buy the cord, and connectors for $5, then a electrical dial $10 also on their site and you have adjustable heat for 17.50 plus shipping... Just an option... As far as Exo terra tank, I have a 70g male in the same size tank-low profile tho which are awesome, he absolutely loves it and has plenty of room my wife even bought him a hide tree from petco- the cave is his outhouse, and the top of the tree is where from some reason he likes to go at night... Its really funny! Anyways most breeders keep this size animal in a 15qt-28qt tub so IMO it will work excellant for you! OH and as for vitamins, I use Vionate for leo's up to 10mo old then osteoform from then on out, and its cheaper than rep-cal calcium. Just my way tho...

Glad to see your getting everything you need before hand and asking questions too! Your on the right track to say the least!! And Congrats to an awesome hobby!

If you have a Petco somewhere, they have $1 per gallon sales. You can get a nice 20 gallon long tank for $20 and save yourself a lot of money, plus the extra floor space will be ideal for leopard geckos.

You can also look at places like amazon.com, a lot of the same items can be bought direct from manufacturers on amazon, except they don't charge you taxes and you often get free shipping. I know the Zoo Med Reptitherm UTH is a lot cheaper from amazon than most other places because you are buying them direct from Zoo Med rather than through a reseller.

They also have a nice selection of hides, multivitamins, etc.. so check amazon along with other sites and compare prices. Good luck :)

I actually prefer the 18" over the 12". I only had the 12" for a week and got several cuts and scrapes on my hands because the opening wasn't high enough. But if you're less clumsy than me (most people are.. LOL) or plan to keep the tank on a high bookshelf, the 12" would be fine. I kept my tank on the kitchen counter so it was pretty low and I'm 6 feet tall. I have the 18" tall now, and my hands no longer get cut by the top frame. But size- wise, the 18" x 18" base is big enough for one leopard gecko regardless of the height of the tank.

Read reviews on the Exo Terra cricket feeder. People say that not all crickets will come out. Some will just hide and die in there. Also, you shouldn't let crickets roam free in the tank anyway. If you want to feed with crickets, drop in one at a time with tweezers. Get a pair of long tweezers for feeding. Exo Terra Tongs have rubber tips. I'm getting those because mine keep striking the metal tweezers I have now.

I didn't see a cricket container in your shopping list. Mine came with a couple of black tubes. Don't waste money on the quencher. I use a small vial filled up with water and plugged by a cotton ball. As for gutloading, I feed mine with high quality fish food flakes, crushed dog food kibbles, carrots, and Fluker's cricket food. They like the fish food the most. I put these various foods in water bottle caps in the cricket tank or they walk and poop all over the food.

But read about mealworms and how to breed them. Plenty of info here and on Youtube. They don't smell or make sounds like crickets. You can gutload them with the same stuff you give to crickets. If you're going to feed with mealworms, you'll need a dish that's slippery inside and tall enough so that they can't climb out. Exo Terra sells a really nice one since you like Exo Terra stuff. Mealworms will be able to escape from that dish on your list unless you are using that for water. Get a little dish for the calcium without D3 as well.

Gutload the insects for like a day before you feed them to your gecko.

Good luck!

Id recommend against buying 1000 crickets right away, you will only end up feeding 1/4 of them(if that) before they die.

I'm going to buy from LLLreptiles instead. That being said, if I buy mealworms, will I still douse them in the calcium before feeding them to the gecko like I would with the crickets? Do you think that a small, glossy bowl will suffice for the slippery surface? We have a few bowls in my house that may work well with keeping the bugs in. Here is my new list from LLL. Do you think I should feed mealworms instead of crickets?

Zoo Med Repti Calcium WITHOUT D3 - 8 oz

$15.98

Baby Leucistic Leopard Geckos

$26.99

Exo Terra Medium Desert Habitat Kit 18x18x18 (Including bowls, decorations, and books about leopard geckos)

$159.99

Exo Terra Cricket Pen Large

$29.98

Zoo Med .4 oz Leopard Gecko Food

$2.79
Crickets .25"

$26.99

Nature Zone 24 Ounce Cricket Water Bites

$11.58

Exo Terra Cricket Feeding Rock

$7.59

Thanks for all of your help! :)

I lightly dust with Repashy Calcium Plus at every feeding and leave a small dish of calcium without D3 in the tank at all times. Even with the dusting, my leos still lick the dish.

You can feed both crickets and mealworms.

Read this page. It's very informative. http://www.geckosetc.com/care.html

Thank you! Are there any food alternatives (if I run out of crickets one day)? (Other than Mealworms, what can I feed them if I run out of crickets)
