Are we talking about hatchlings, or regular sized geckos (as in "I just got 2 new babies to breed")? I have hatchlings who don't catch on to the eating thing. Separating was a good idea. If I'm not sure they're eating, I will hand feed for awhile by holding them and gently pressing a feeder against the side of the mouth. Usually they'll open, bite and then eat it. Just keeping it alone for a few days with feeders and not disturbing it and seeing if there's any poop can also help. I had a few hatchlings that initially needed hand feeding, then only wanted to take mealworms from my hand. Since I hope to sell them, I have to get them less dependent on hand feeding and what worked with them all was either superworms or crickets.

Some geckos get hooked on waxworms and then won't eat anything else even though they are not nutritious enough to be a staple. I like superworms (and I feed them to fairly small geckos) because they move more than mealies but not as fast as crickets. There are other worms too, but they are too expensive to get and try for picky eaters in my opinion (silkworms, hornworms).
