Okay, so here is my cricket breeding setup:
1/3-1/2 of space is egg carton
a 3.5" diameter dish of moist sand with a homemade recycled newspaper cave
flour as substrate
food: oats, raisins, cat food, corn flakes, carrots, fish food, dog food
any opinions?

Flour? Never heard of using flour as a substrate for crickets. In fact, no substrate is best. You want to use a pint container with moderately packed, moist soil (coco fiber works well) for them to lay in. If the container is at least partly clear, you'll be able to see the eggs about 2 inches down from the top of the substrate.

After it is full of eggs (about a week after crickets start singing), take it out and incubate in seperate smaller container, they start hatching in 4-7 days.

Using flour just seems to be begging for grain mites and such.

well, I was planning on breeding mealworms but ended up getting crickets. Thought it was worth trying.
