So my apartment is pretty old, and is heated with steam heaters. These have to be turned on by management in order for us to heat our apartment. Its been getting kind of cold and I've noticed some/all of my geckos have cut back on eating and aren't as active. So I figure they are "cooling", which I'm not doing on purpose. The heat doesn't come on until November I'm guessing, so I'm wondering if my geckos will start ovulating when the heat comes on?
I need the heat because my hatchlings are starting to not eat and they need to grow.
Opinions?

Yeah I have heat tape but I'm not going to crank that up to heat the air temps and burn their stomachs.

It's not unusual for geckos to eat less when it gets cooler and/or the amount of ambient light decreases. It's still relatively warm here in the Boston area --60's and 70's during the day and 50's at night. I haven't turned the heat on yet. Still, even in mid-Sept when it was warmer, it was like the switch got flipped and the adult geckos started eating much less. It's like that every year. Eating less doesn't necessarily mean they will be cooling. IN the winter, some of my geckos do go over to the cool side and sleep and pretty much don't eat, but that's not happening yet. In my opinion, if the floor and air inside the hides is the appropriate temperature, they should be fine. The hatchlings may just be getting to that age where they don't need to eat as much.

If the belly temp on the hot side stays in the 90's, then you should be ok with the hatchlings. :D
