I am breathing a sigh of relief as we managed to hatch 2 healthy looking babies. We were camping this weekend and planning to come home tomorrow. Yesterday out of the blue I got unreasonably worried about the animals (they had to go 1 day without fresh food/water) and when we heard the weather was going to get bad today we came home a day early. I am so glad we did. I went strait to the incubator to discover these 2 cuties waiting for us to get home! I'm guessing they hatched yesterday as the shells are all dry already? Here they are:

I really like the pattern on the second one pictured.. please don't take any offense, but that yellow blotch really looks like a middle finger! LOL

Emma; no, we missed out on them hatching. And my camera battery was dead and we can't find the charger so I couldn't even get a shot of them before I removed them from the incubator :main_angry: But, my hubby's camera was working so that is where the shots in this post are from....

I would have loved it if my kids could have seen them hatching, hopefully we will see the next ones. I didn't even get to see the sweating that I have read about...... so I really had no idea that they were close to hatching. Figures, I check on them religiously every day for a month and a half and on the few days I can't, there they are :main_rolleyes:

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and comments! It's fun to share our excitement here!!

HAHA I bet he doesn't take crap from anyone!! :main_evilgrin:

I've been lucky enough to see eggs sweat once or twice, but out of 9 babies that have hatched so far, I think I've only seen 3 eggs actually sweat (and we check the incubator every hour on the hour when eggs are due! LOL) So I guess my point is, not all eggs sweat or give any warning before they hatch (little buggers)!

It seems like some just shoot out of the egg like some kind of rocket, because you'll look at the incubator and see nothing, then come back no more than 30 minutes later to find a baby running around! Then there's others that seem to take days and days to hatch - they're the lazy ones that like to eat as much of the yolk sac as they can haha ;)
