SO our first baby leo hatched this morning!! Check her out!!

She (incubated for F) Also seems to have an ever so slight eyelid crinkle on her right eye. The two eggs we stuck together until about a week ago when they kind of popped apart on their own. Could that be a result of that?

Oh and also, could someone tell me exactly what morph she is? The mother is our Blazing Blizzard and we originally thought that the father was a Bell Albino, but apparently he could be Tremper instead, so now we're just all kinds of confused. lol

you bred a bell to a tremper?
any particular reason?

the hatchling you posted would be het for tremper, bell, and blizzard in that case.
not cool.

if the male was a tremper the hatchling would be an albino; since it's normal, i assume you're correct about the identity of the parents.

Idk the reason since it wasn't my idea. I thought that he was Tremper, my husband thought she was bell and was telling everyone else he was bell and then he decided to put them together. (I assume to see which one he was. idk.) So, yea. It's been one of the things that I have not had much say in. :/

Congrats to the hatchling! :main_yes: Sorry for the morph mix-up. As long as you don't sell it and keep it as a pet only, it doesn't do any harm. Just remember not to mix up the three albino strains (Tremper, Bell, Rainwater) in the future ;) You can tell if the parents are Tremper or Bell by looking into their eyes. Bells have more reddish eyes, while Trempers have more yellowish/grayish eyes. If you can post a picture of the parents, people on here can maybe tell you what they are.

Eyelid creases might be results of slight temperature fluctuations. That happens sometimes, for example after a short power failure or so. I hatched a few like this, too. It doesn't matter at all. A missing eyelid would be a concern. I don't think eyelid creases can result from separating two eggs that are stuck together. There is a trick how to get them apart without rupturing the shell: just make them a little wet and pull very carefully. If done soon after laying, that's even easier than after waiting a few weeks, when the shells are hard already. However, sometimes I just leave eggs stuck together. The only issue is when one is a dud and gets moldy, and the mold goes over onto the healthy egg. Otherwise, they can stay together.

crossing the albino strains as you've done creates animals with both genes, which, in subsequent breedings will be nearly impossible to separate.

imo they are culls

Okay, so now I am confused b/c this is what my b/f is saying:

"she does not have any form of the albino genes to mix up. she is only a blizzard and nothing more. that's why she was only 60 bucks. goob is suspected to be only albino. we still don't know which type and there could be other traits that emerge someday that we can't tell that he has"

The eggs were already beginning to harden when we got them out so we were afraid to pull them apart. They were stuck together til last week when they popped apart on their own. lol.

I had posted pictures of the father on here and people told us that he was Tremper. I couldn't ever get a completely clear pic of his eyes on here, but they're brown so idk. Idk what to do b/c we're about to have like 7 more of these babies hatching. (lol)

if it's just a blizzard with no albino strain, then no harm has been done & your babies will be het blizzard and whatever albino strain your adult turns out to be. however if your going to choose to breed, you or your b/f should know what your breeding. not trying to bash on you but you will find alot of people will strongly disagree with you breeding anything that you do not have confirmed genetics on... just FYI

Trust me, I agree with you 100% on that. I've been packing my brain with tons of school work so I haven't really had a chance to work on the breeding as much, so I've been leaving it to him for now.

We bought him from Petsmart a few years ago & he was our first. (obviously.) We didn't start breeding until this year. We were told by one guy that Goob (the father) was a bell albino, so we just called it that. It wasn't until a few weeks ago when we started seeing pictures of Trempers that looked like him and we asked on here, that the question of what albino he as came into play. By that point all of these eggs from him and our blizzard were already in the incubator and we were left to play the waiting game. .....

lower incubation temperatures can make the reds/oranges look more maroon/brown. Post pics and you should be able to get a better opinion. I can only guess at this point, but coming from that chain, it's highly UNlikely they carry Bell or Rainwater albino's.

I posted a thread about 2 weeks ago and people said Tremper, so I guess we'll go with that for now. (lol) I just haven't been able to tell b/c he looks like some I have seen of both and his eyes are dark brown so I have been confused for like 2 weeks now. lol
