So im new to these forums and thought i would share some photos with you guys.

Ill start it off with Sunkiss, Female Tang

She gave us our babies for the year

Pineapple another female Tang

And this is Mango -- Can some of you please help me determine whether she has a bit of redstripe? All three of these were purchased from THEURBANGECKO as tangerines.

Spaz our Male Tang

Here are some pics from Spaz and Sunkiss babies

This is curly, as you will probally understand why we named her that.

Not sure what happened but her tail always curls back underneath it.

And this is cannie our female normal- 6 years old

Very colorful and beatiful tangs. They look great and the babies are amazing. Love all the colors and intense orange on all of them. I also like Cannie's pattern on her head.

Very nice geckos! I'd say Mango is a Tangerine Dorsal Stripe too.

It's a genetic defect referred to as a "pig tail". It can happen when lines aren't properly outcrossed. We hatched one from an Urban Sunglow pair and it didn't live.

Very pretty geckos though!

well we hope everything goes well with the lil one, from day one out the incubator we have worried a lil bit. He/she did not seem very interested in eating even after he shed for the first time. He is 2 months old now and eating like a pig, we have decided to keep him because my wife is very fond of that one. We hope all goes well and even if his tail doesnt straighten out we will accept him and give him the best life possible.

Now.. more about this genetic defect.

If i continue to breed these 2 geckos together and it happens again should i cease the breeding of them? Or maybe pair them up with a different partner?

Im very concerned about this because these are the foundation of our Tang
breeding.

Thanks for the help and any information given is well appreciated.

wow, first off thanks for the information.

funny thing is, the pair that made this "pigtail" came from Urban Gecko.

i dont know whether they have not properly outcrossed or whatnot,

but it seems that alot of people have this same problem with the urban

bloodline. I wrote Craig of UrbanGecko about this curly tail, his response was

he did not think it was Genetic (being my first guess) and would write it off

as a rare occurance in breeding. Now that i have searched the internet and

many paperback sources, i know that it can very possibly be genetic. I

definately will not be breeding the 2 together again. Im just not comfortable

with knowing what could happen unless im proved otherwise.

Thanks again for the link and the info

No problem! I don't know of any studies that have been done to prove or disprove that it could be genetic but I think sharing all information is important.
