I just got this little guy yesterday, he's about 3 months old and his name is Weetbix! He ate something yesterday, and spent all of his time basking under the UV lamp. He's in shed right now.

When the lights were off, he dug under the paper towel and tried to sleep there. I brought him out and put him in a folded towel and placed him closer to the ceramic heat lamp. I woke up this morning expecting to see him on his basking log, but he's still in the towel. I wonder if this is normal, or is he too scared to come out? Anyway, I took him out and placed him on the wood. He seems more skittish and nervous today than yesterday. He tried to hide whenever I walk into his view...:(

He hasn't eaten anything yet for today (we're in the morning now), I'll try to not enter his field of view and see if he'll eat.

Thanks :) He doesn't seem very interested in the greens, i can't tell if he has eaten any from the dish anyway...I hope he can get used to me hovering nearby soon.

He looks great! :main_thumbsup: :main_yes: Nice pale colors. Mine is still very shy, too, and the smaller they are, the less they like salad. He'll enjoy it in some time!

Why do they always have those colorful spots, or numbers written on their tail base? Is it to distinguish males from females, or something???

The color marking is to distinguish each individual from their clutch mates; so the buyer and seller knows exactly which one they're talking about as babies are kept together in one big tub.

I found a way to approach him without scaring him to jump off his wood! I noticed if I walk sideways facing the opposite wall, he'll just watch me carefully and not dash to hide. Then I can slowly turn around and sit down in front of him. I managed to hold him for a while before he goes to bed last night! <3

He looks really happy to get out of his shed :D :main_laugh:

He has nice, shiny colors!! :main_yes:

Mine hasn't shed yet. I'm becoming impatient... How often do you think they do it at that age? I've had him for 2-3 weeks now and I haven't seen it yet. I gave him a bath yesterday and today.

Nyoko hasn't shed yet either and it's making me nutty. He's got a bit of shed started on his butt tho...

Weetbix's body and legs were already grey when he arrived, and it took him a week from that stage to start the actual shedding process. At that age, I'm not sure how often they're suppose to shed though. He has eaten less these 2 days after his complete shed too, I don't know if that's normal.
