A local family here was rehoming all of their hedgies, their daughter has cystic fibrosis and the doctor recommended it. We just had to adopt this awesome little girl. Her name was daisy, but i have a feeling regardless of sex, my son will rename her Sonic. ;D

nice little hedgie, reminds me of my first one named velcro who was also an albino, they love apples and bananas, not to mentions supers and mealies

also I would get a better wheel as the wire ones can cut their toes off, I had a hedgie I got from a guy that was missing two toes due to a wire wheel, you can just take a glue gun and coat the wire in it to make it solid, its time consuming but if your cheap like me it works great lol

yeah this was the wheel they supplied, she was in a tub when i picked her up. im actually going to lowes in a few minutes to get some velcro strips to attach to the wheel, then going to use some fleece like material so that i can remove it and wash

Awww... too cute. Also ya might want to pick up some high quality cat food. That looks like meow mix to me from the shape, but it's been some time since I've owned cats. Kinda odd the doc would suggest getting rid of the hedgies 'cause the girl was sick. Usually they recommend pets as a moral booster. I don't see how a hedgie could negatively affect some one with her condition aside of limiting her ability to maybe clean it's tank. Is this your first hedgie fuzzy? I know a decent hedgie forum if you'd like. I seem, to join forums of critters that interest me even if I don't own one just so I can learn more about them :)

Oh I was there the other day Shawn when I was looking for Chins. They have very small forums for chins... :( Is that the biggest one? Or at least it seemed small.

Awesome, hedgie! I have one too, you can see her pics in this section as well.

Question: What kind of shavings is that in her enclosure?

nope, not the fuzzy part, and they don't have hooks on velcro anymore, its more like little nubs. her nails can't get caught in it. as far as the substrate it's aspen shavings.

Good... I wasn't sure. I know that pine and cedar are not recommended due to most hedgehogs being allergic to the plicatic and abietic acids found in such woods. It usually causes asthma in hedgies if used over a prolong period of time.

Sounds (and looks) like you're off to a great start with your new addition. Also, one thing to keep an eye out for with hedgehogs are mites. If she starts loosing quills, but doesn't seem stressed, it's probably mites. They're nasty little buggers...no pun intended.

Congrats again. She's a beauty.
