Out of interest,

Can you breed a hatchling back to its mum or dad or to its sibling? If not why and what could happen? Genetic mutations and deformities etc.?

I haven't done this do please don't start on me, it is a question out of interest

It's called line breeding. For example breeding a tremper albino to a normal, will produce normals het tremper albino. The only way to produce albinos will be to breed those hatchlings back to the albino parent or a brother/sister. Without line breeding most of the mutations leopard geckos have wouldn't be possible, or atleast a lot more difficult to produce. Their isn't any instant harm doing this. However, Constantly breeding hatchlings back to the parents, year after year could cause some problems in the future. That's why it is always good to add a new (unrelated) breeder to your project every 2-3 years/seasons.

I knew line breeding was something along those lines... Thanks very much! :)

I hatched a Mack Snow het. Bell so I was hoping to breed it back to mummy... Although not every year, just once or twice during the year.

Also should be mentioned that propper line breeding involves out crossing. Otherwise its pure inbreeding. Do have a gecko on hand you can out cross to every few generations.
