OVERDRIVE!

My mealie colony is going into overdrive apperently because I'm getting on average about 15 pupae a day! At first I was worried about the mealies because most of them seemed very inactive and would just lay at the top of the bedding. Then, BOOM! They started turning into pupae like crazy!
Anywoo, just thought I'd share this with everybody. :D

Thanks! And don't worry, they'll grow a bit more and then they'll start changing. :main_yes:

Congrats? How many mealies do you have in your colony?!?! I started with about 200 to 250 and I have 13 beetles and about 30 pupae.

I probably have 2000 in the drawer. I bought 15,000 so I have a lot in the fridge and kept out quite a bit to pupate.

We have a small colony of about 700 and its been slightly warmer in the reptile room. I have been feeding the meal worms more and now am pulling out about 15 pupae a day.

Yeah, my mealies are depleating prettty fast now. They're either getting eaten or turning into pupae. I need the beetles I have now to make a 2nd generation, lol.

I think it's a good start.:) I'll be happy once there are more beetles.

That's a really good start! I noticed you keep the pupae in the same tub as the beetles. I'm thinking about doing this because my container I'm currently using is getting filled up because now I am getting about 20 to 25 a day. Do the beetles bother the pupae at all?

Okay, tell me if the beetles end up not doing anything to the pupae if you don't mind. I would love to do that. :D

Just an update:
All my pupae are pretty much turned into beetles and I'm out of mealies and about to be out of pupae. I probably have about 100 to 120 beetles right now so I'm hoping that I'll have some more mealies soon. :D I'll try to get some pics later. :main_yes:

Glad they're all changing for you.

So far, I've had no problems with them being together. I have tons changing everyday. I had to start another drawer!
