Ovulating Female Rejecting Male

So I've never really had this happen before, so I figured I'd try and get some feedback.
I have a female who I noticed began ovulating a week or so ago(definitely, without a doubt ovulating), so I introduced the male for the first time;rejected. I waited a couple days and tried again thinking she was just being a little picky... Still no luck. I've tried 3-4 times now, and she just doesn't want anything to do with the male.
These two bred last year together so it was pretty unexpected.
Maybe I should just give her some more time? I'm not quite sure what to do at this point... And I don't have another male to try along the same project lines, so trying a different male would be pretty disappointing, as I'd be straying away from the original project I was hoping on starting.

I'm kind of having same problem right now. I'm pretty sure my female is ovulating and the same male she breed with last year has rejected him 3-4 times already. I'm going to keep trying to introduce them for a few more weeks but I do have a back up male I may try if no luck. It will throw my project plans back a year or two if she doesn't accept my planned male. It's annoying when nature doesn't go according to my plans..lol

Sometimes you just gotta give them more time. I had a female that rejected anything, including my hand touching her tail, until a couple of months after she started ovulating. They'll be ready when they are ready.

Never heard of that before. But no, not a giant.
Of the 8 clutches I got from her last year, they were all one-eggers.

Sometimes breeding females only lay one egg. I think it has something to do with the female anatomy that causes them to produce a single egg clutch. Possibly something to do with the ovaries/ovary. I currently have one female who has given me single egg clutches over the years. It seems that females who lay mixed number or one egg clutches will typically stay consistent in giving you the mixed or single egg clutches their whole life. Hope this helps ya. :main_thumbsup:

Yeah, I have yet to get a 2 egg clutch from her.
its kind of weird because I can see two ovums, but only 1 egg ever develops.
