Ovulation help

Hi everyone,

this is my first official breeding season. I have 2 tangelos and 3 tremper mack snows (all 55-60 grams each) that I would like to breed this season. However, I have yet to see them ovulate. I know your supposed to look for the pink spot, but none have had it yet. I check everyday.

Just in case I was not seeing it correctly, I tried introducing males to some of them, however they viciously refused them (poor guys).

I think they have been cooled (naturally) since the temp in the basement has dropped a little. Is there a way to instigate ovulation or will they just do it on their own? Would I be better off leaving a male in with some girls?

thanks for the help!

Ashley

You can try the paper trick (place a piece of paper in the males tub for a few days then transfer it into the females tub. His scent markings may help stimulate her to reproduce). But if she is not ready I usually just let them decide when they want it. I am never in a hurry to make them breed so I let nature do its thing.

Yea, I heard of the paper trick, but I thought that was just to make introduction a little easier on the female. I will try that though.

thanks
