Ovulation hunger strike

Hello all our girl aurora stopped eating about a month ago we believe she is ovulating because around this time last year she stopped eating for around 3-4 weeks while we could see dark egg shapes in her stomach. I am mainly just worried this year because we are
going on 4+ weeks now and she hasn't eaten a single thing she just lays in her humid hide or lay box all day. She is a big girly around 125 grams the last time she was weighed so I am not worried about egg complications, just concerned in general. She licks the calcium if I put it right up in her face sometimes but won't eat a thing.

Anotherthing that is concerning me is that she is long overdue for her shed. She looked ready last week and despite spending a lot of time in her humid hide she has yet to attempt her shed. Is all of this normal for an ovulation?

Thanks in advance

This pretty much describes almost my whole collection. I do attempt to feed those who are on strike by holding them and pushing a mealworm or cricket against the mouth and sometimes it works.

Ok going to be approaching 6 weeks soon can anyone tell me if this is normal for an ovulating female? This is def much longer than last year and she had a really tough shed. She wouldn't do any of it herself and we had to give her numerous warm soaks. One of hey eyes got stuck shut with shed which we managed to get off and she is opening it like normal but it seems a little irritated. Anyway we are growing increasingly more concerned is all of this normal? Or is this lasting too long?

Thanks for any replies.

Has there been any changes in her enclosure or anything else? I think it's abnormal. It seems a little too long.Sometimes they go on an ovulation hunger strike.Try a different feeder

we've tried crickets meal worms giant meal worms and wax worms but she wont eat any of them. Yeah she recently got a new cave hide on her cool side and new humid hide (about 2 weeks ago) but she has seemed pretty comfortable in both.

The shed is what really concerned me because she has never had a single shedding problem in the past but i pretty much had to do this entire one for her.

If she doesn't get better soon we will be taking her to the vet after the weekend.

Uh, I had a female go through this for MONTHS last year.
Except she gave me 12 dud eggs.:(
But she eventually ate and gained back, plus, any weight she lost.
So, be patient. Mine also had issues shedding some during that time.
Imagine that it's like us women during that time of the month.
We are not at our best. We don't look our best, and sometimes we have skin issues.

Thanks for all the responses guys we have had a rough 6 months with 3 of our little guys dying, especially since one of our little girls Cali(23g) just died about a month and a half ago because she was too small for the eggs she developed and the vet said too small to have them taken out without serious injury. Aurora(120g) is muuuch bigger, and doesn't really seem to be losing much if any weight in her tail or stomach. But we cant help but worry after the recent rough times and the fact that it is lasting soo much longer than last year.

We are going to the reptile expo this sunday in NH and will be picking up a ton of food varieties so hopefully she will be feeling better so she can enjoy them.

Anyway thank you all again.

They don't generally lose TOOOO much weight during ovulation.

I know it's rough. I worried SOOOOO much about my girl last year.
Seriously. But your baby should be ok.

After losing one of my girls in December, I am CONSTANTLY worried about my geckos.
So, it's understandable to be concerned.

Just a mini update Aurora seems to be feeling a little bit better over the past couple days we have still been giving her warm soaks for a few small remaining pieces of shed. But the the other day she started sticking her head out of her little cave when she would hear one of us come down the stairs, and began to lick the food we offer her so we used that oppertunity to get her to take in some calcium w/d3 since she has barely had any recently. My gf decided to see what would happen if she stuck a small mealworm in Auroras mouth when she went to lick it and she actually chewed it up and ate the little thing!!

We werent able to get her to eat anymore than 1 but still I'll take 1 mealworm after 6 weeks of absolutely nothing.

Hopefully she continues to improve. Wish us well.

Thanks again everyone.
