does a female leo have to breed in order to ovulate? I am confused on what ovulation is.

Ovulation is producing egg follicles. They must ovulate in order to breed successfully. Hope that helps!

Also when a female ovulates and there is a male near he will go nuts if he smells it in the air, one way I'm learning to tell if they are ovulating is when the males start digging and trying to get out and sorta going crazy, if I check my females at that time they are usually ovulating lol.

the easier way for me to tell if they are ovulating is to turn them over and look for pinkish red spots on the belly (generally two). thats a pretty good way of telling

Depends on how fat she is though. Some females are so fat you will not see the follicles. You should still be able to see the eggs when they are developing.

it may be difficult for some people when they are fat but in my experience i have never had a problem telling when they are ovulating or not, no matter the size of the gecko

I just didn't want anyone to think that just because they don't see the ovulation doesn't mean they aren't doing it. Especially if they aren't experienced.

understood but if you pay enough attention to your females and know where to look it's usually always visible even on fat ones
