Information on panther geckos seems pretty scarce on the Internet. Anyone here have one? I would like to get one to add to my Leo rack. Would a panther gecko do well in a rack system just like leopard geckos?

P. pictus is pretty much the same care as a leopard gecko except for a few differences:

Pictus geckos(AKA Panther Geckos) require decent humidity. This can be achieved in a rack via regular misting and/or a humidity holding substrate like cocofiber.

They are smaller and therefore require smaller prey items.

They're somewhat skittish and aren't really a "hands on" species. Handling freaks them out and they can move rather quickly when they want to.

Males will breed females to death, so pairs need to be housed separately outside of short breeding introductions.

Other than those few things, care is pretty much identical. Same temps, same feeding schedule, etc.

To answer the question about being fed solely mealworms, yes. That was all my pictus gecko received as food.

As already stated, panther geckos need a bit more humidity than leopards. They are a very prolific species as well, you will end up with lots of little babies if you buy a pair.

Other names to look up:

Madagascar Ground Gecko or Madagascar Ocelot Gecko

Scientific name: Paroedura pictus or Paroedura picta

Voracious feeders. Agree with DV Reptile about diet.
