can parasites be passed on while breeding like an std / how are parasites contagious to other leos if they are living togetheir hypothetically

From what I know parasites can be passed through coming into contact with infected feces. Or, if a cricket or other food item gets hungry enough they'll eat the feces and then get eaten by a gecko who will get infested that way. From what I've read on the forums, parasites are usually passed on to the gecko through their feeders, with crickets being the usual culprits. I'm not quite sure how the crickets get the parasites if they've never been in contact with another animal's infected feces though.
