Parasite problems

I'd hate to be back here again once again with yet another parasite problem with my Leo.

I know to take precautions by providing the vet with a faecal sample quickly, and I will also expect to receive a dose of panacur; I have, during the past three occasions.

Honestly, I am clueless why my Leo gets continual amounts of parasite problems.
I do not have a heat pad nor a thermostat and thus, the guy does not have a temperature gradient; could this be it? Do note, that the average air temperature here is really about 28 celsius, so he does have a fair amount of heat.

Could it be the food?

Please hypothesize. On this note, I would like to ask if anyone is kind enough to ship me a zoomed heat pad, thermostat, and even one of those hygrometers from Walmart. It is difficult for me to afford the shipping fees from the united states, nor do I have a paypal account.

It is unacceptable to keep reptiles here and incredibly difficult to find such products; please understand and thank you.

You have to clean the tank immediately after the leo defecates or it can reintroduce the parasites into it's system.

Argh, stupid iPad! Due to the touch screen, sometimes my fingers will slip and I will thank posts that I have absolutely no intentions of thanking.

To the OP, like what was mentioned, proper sanitation and disinfection of enclosures that previously housed parasitic geckos is extremely important if you are going to house more geckos in those enclosures.

You'll need a vet is you speculate parasites. As what could've elicited them, I do not know. Could've been improper sanitation, could've been due to an interaction with your other gecko, could've been the apparently extreme climate you live in with definitely more than enough humidity than leopard geckos need.

And no, I don't think anyone is going to lend you a UTH or those other things. Those are items that you should've obtained when purchasing the reptile. That is part of being a responsible pet owner, to provide everything the animal needs for it's health and well being. No one else should provide that for you.

If that truly is the case, then (in the best interest of the animals' health, wellbeing and prosperity) maybe you should've thought twice before purchasing them.

Sanitation....alright, I will take note of that.

Yes, I agree, I don't think I should be obtaining any of those things by someone else's goodwill either. I am, in this rather unfortunate circumstance, looking for empathy here.

Yes, it is actually illegal to keep leo's over here, but after reading tons of caresheets and asserting that 28 celsius has actually worked for this breeder I purchased the leo from; I assumed, perhaps foolishly, that I could successfully obtain one.

Your gecko could be re-infecting itself - or your right, it could be its food source.

Where are you that it's illegal to keep leos?

My country is of a rather one party controlled sort of place, but of a rather benevolent. We've come into some political hiccups recently, and some things here need to be dealt with. But that is beside the point.

I appreciate this ban at this point in time because simply, many people don't bother to read care sheets in the first place. I've for one, seen axolotls actually called fish.

Nonetheless, the issues remain. Can anyone comment on deal extreme? It appears to sell many things I need except for the heating pad with free shipping.

How have the parasites been diagnosed? What kind of parasites are they? Different parasitic infections require specific medication. Panacur will not treat coccidia or flagellate protozoan infections. If worms are visible to the naked eye in the gecko's stool, then the gecko is not infected but rather the feeders. Only if oocysts are observed through a microscope is the gecko infected. If you are not having your gecko's feces examined by a qualified vet, then you will not know what type of parasites (if any) you are dealing with.

Providing your gecko with a thermal gradient and a warm spot of 90-04 degrees F (belly heat) is necessary for it's digestion, metabolism, and immune system to function properly. This would include sub-clinical parasites being kept at bay. If you have been paying for veterinary treatment, them I would assume that you can also afford to have an under-tank heater (UTH) shipped to you.

For heating, in a pinch, I would say that a dimmer switch, which you can buy at a hardware store or get the parts to make one (a rheostat is essentially a dimmer switch) and a desk lamp with a low wattage incandescent bulb should work for you. Something in the range of 25-50 watt. Although not optimal for leos it should do the job.

Yes, the parasites were diagnosed by a vet.

and No, I can't ship anything into here because I cannot have a paypal account.

I will try the desk lamp idea for the time being. Thank you.
