My newest addition. These pictures dont do this Leo justice! He's super bright! Can't wait to see how he looks as an adult! Thats if he's a he, which i'm guessing most pet store sold Leo's end up as he's since incubation time is shortest for them which = fastest return on money from breeding!

He was super pissed at the girl trying to get him out of the tank and bit her. Luckly I caught him when her hand came flying out of the tank with him behind it airborn! Would have been a long fall to the floor for this little guy!

He was being sold with the normals as a normal also! For $20! Looking to be a Hypo Tangerine? Correct me if im wrong though! Maybe a baldy?

Yeah I didn't think so, but whoever there supplier is was kinda ignorant also. I'm sure the suppliers to the big pet store chains (PS) don't care like most breeders do about what they are breeding.

Hypo tangs and normals are pretty much the same thing. Plus these large pet store chains buy these geckos from whole salers when they are very young. When sht and normals are born a lot of the time they look exactly the same.

Ive found that buying geckos from places like petco is kinda like getting the mystery box, i was in their yesterday and saw blizzardsn their and the lady tried telling me they were normals! a pure white gecko is not a normal

Sometimes their ignorance pays off. its funny how they market their Leos.. Their normals and "fancy" leopard geckos. I bought a blizzard for $20 at Petsmart, and I got it home and noticed its bright red eyes... its definitely not just a normal blizzard. I also bought a Murphy Patternless for $15 labeled as a normal from Petco. I only buy Leos from them when they are having a sale, and then only if they look healthy, and the tank is setup right.

They buy their geckos from suppliers and put a set mark up on them. The petstore doesnt care about ID'ing them, they just want their money.
Its not ignorance, its business.

well their not good at it cause if they id them they would make more money

Not really.
Normal people don't know about genetics (until they seek them out AFTER purchasing the gecko). I wouldn't raise the price out of my markup just because I know better, because if all the normals or $35 but I have a jungle in the bunch set at $45, he'll be the last to go.

I work at a large pet store and it most definitely is not ignorance. Every batch of 'normals', which we get for about $15 each, sell for $30, has at least one little guy that is a neat morph. The gecko in my avatar was from a 'normal' batch, but she turned out to be very interesting, Our distributor is a wholesale breeder but a very good one. All of our geckos arrive extremely healthy, and many different morphs are available to order. It's the pet stores that are bad, the animals arrive healthy but quickly deteriorate in an inappropriate setup.

Pet Supplies Plus. We get our reptiles from a wholesale breeder, but we actually get our birds from a smaller breeder. PetSmart has a corporate wide breeding operation where all PetSmart animals are produced. They don't use an independent supplier like we do. We can get trempers, snows, albinos, etc. They can only get what corporate decides they should get.

Pet Supplies Plus is a large national corporate chain. We just don't have as many stores as PetSmart or Petco, but the stores themselves are all comparable in size.

Did you get this pretty boy from Petsmart? I have a hypo tangerine also but our Petsmart is not allowed to know morphs as they are not breeders. I hope you are right on short incubation time as boys. I have two from there and bought them the same time. They get along super and i hope it continues through out there life. My other one is a high yellow. Both will be very gorgeous as adults i did a google search and they are beautiful.
