Pax has a dislocated leg...

I moved everything in my room around today. I took the leos out of the viv before moving it and everyone was fine when I put them back.

I was cleaning the cage a little bit ago and when I was removing everyone again, I noticed Pax dragging a leg. It looks to be dislocated at the shoulder. There is no swelling or discoloration.

I really have no idea how it happened. All I can think of is some thing fell on her, but nothing seemed out of place. I feel really bad. I know I need to take her to a vet, but I'm on workers comp and I only have $1.74 till the end of the week.

I tried to make her as comfortable as possible. I padded a small bowl with paper towels and placed it half on the UTH. I also took most of the decorations out of the viv to stop anymore accidents from happening. I would like to give her, her own viv, but I only have two UTHs and Dottie can't be put in with anyone else...

I did see her eat a cricket that was hidden behind decorations. I am going to keep a close eye on her, but I really have no idea what to do.

I didn't take any pictures because I don't want to stress her out too much. If I see her out of her hide, I will take one if I can.

Does anyone have any input?

Well, today, I took her to the vet for an x-ray. Turns out she has a hairline fracture right below the shoulder and should heal up in a few weeks.

Here is one of the x-rays:

The fracture looks worse than it is in this picture. I circled it..

We took several pictures this one was the first and I thought it was a good picture, so I took a photo of it with my phone. I cropped it.

I will be getting another UTH when I get paid and setting her up in a tank by herself. Right now, I have her in a large kritter keeper sitting in the 40 gallon for heat.

Thanks. The vet made me feel alot better. The good thing is, it should only take about 2 weeks to heal and she shouldn't have any deformities. I'll just have to me more careful in the future and not have such dangerous setups.

Hey don't beat yourself up about it. Stuff happens, as they say. I am going through the healing process of a break/strain in the same leg of my reverse stripe girlie Athena. I don't know how it happened with her (tho the hubby said he may have dropped her...hmmm). She's been healing up for a while and walks better every day. I love those xray pictures, btw. Hey-do you think you could post a pic of the injury, a regular pic (outside of the gecko, lol). I'd like to see if it looks like Athena's injury. Thanks a bunch if you do!

Her leg looked normal. There was no bruising, lumps or anything. The only reason I knew something was wrong, was she was dragging it, instead of walking on it. Today when we were taking the x-rays, she was trying to put pressure on it. That also helped back up that it is just a minor fracture.

A quick update. I cleaned her cage to day and she is doing great. Her leg is still a bit stiff, but she is getting around on it. She doesn't look like she has lost any weight, so I think she will make a full recovery.

It is indeed. I now have everyone separated as to minimize any more accidents. That and today I discovered, my largest leos Edesia and Dottie are both male. I guess Edesia was too young to tell when I looked and Dottie was in too bad health to tell when I got him.
