Okay so this has bugged me for a bit. My parents are totally against getting a snake. Like they know I would take care of it (I have 3 leos atm). Doing research would not be a problem either. Money is not either lol..
They really just don't want me to have one, and they don't want me putting pinkies in the fridge =[

Joe, I think taking them to a couple shows in the summer so they can see the many different species and how nice they really are "first hand". Maybe you can warm them up to the idea that way and make it a bit easier on yourself to win them over. Don't give up hope.

As for the pinkies, you can put the plastic bag they come in inside a freezer container if that makes them feel a bit better. There are options you can suggest.

Get a mini freezer, lol..

Or just wait until your parents warm up to the situation because the more you bug them the more they'll probably be annoyed.

you can feed live pinkies or mice but with mice prekill them. i did that when i had 2 ball pythons. that would eliminate the need for frozen rodents, i had to do so since i did not want my inlaws knowing i had snakes.

take them to a show and show them how wonderful a snake is the colours and what they do then tell them that they will never even see it keep it in your room as for feeders you said you have 3 leos right well buy a pinky every time you go thus you wont have any in your freezer or you can get a small bar fridge that has a small freezer and keep them in there also buy a book and keep it some where they will see it so mabe they will pick it up and read about snakes

I had that problem, I won them over with the either you buy me a deep freezer for myself, or you let me have the bottom draw in the freezer.
Now i just put my pinkies etc in a sealable container, and put them in the freezer, mom doesn't mind.

That's what my mom said too, so my sisters and I never had any pets while we were in her house. I moved out and got myself some leos, my second sister moved out and got 2 chins, lol. My youngest sister is still living with her, and she had been bugging my mom to let her have a bunny for I can't remember how many years, but the answer was still a firm "no".

I can understand that though, everybody has likes and dislikes.

yea I am wondering if it is okay to put killed mice in a fridge not a freezer. Because I rescued a corn/milk snake not sure which one for a day. I thought it was venomous lol, so I used like a pole to put it in a cage. My parents were okay because it was hiding in the cellar from the rain. Just kept it until the rain stopped. Which proves its the feeders that is the problem. And about buying the feeders when I go to a show the shows by me are every 2 months.

You need to freeze anything you aren't going to feed within a day or two. Meat will go bad in a fridge! Refrigeration just slows the process of spoiling, it does not stop it all together.

Do you have a local store that sells frozen feeders? If so you could just go buy one when you need it and not have to store any in the freezer. It may be a little more expensive that way, but better than not being able to have a snake.

My parents are the same way but they dont go near my racks so I have a couple of baby RTBs but by the time they are bigger I should have my own pad. With the rats I just put them in a brown bag in the freezer and tell them its for my animals and they dont touch it. It is pretty funny.
