People Thinking This is about their feelings

When I first came to the forum I can say I was guilty of feeling attacked even though it really wasn't an attack. It was just people being very passionate about the well being of something they love and something I am now extremely passionate about. Now I find myself taking criticism here very seriously. Meaning everything that is said here is something that I should certainly look at as great advice to be a better owner and caregiver to my gecko. In all honestly I am glad some people came off to me as they did, at first I was like "blah you don't know me leave me alone" where in reality it was more like I DIDN'T KNOW A DANG THING SO I'D BETTER LISTEN. :)

But it's all true though, people come in to this thinking "oh cool I have a gecko" not really knowing the responsibilities and all that actually goes in to it. Although I had done my research I did go in to it not as serious as I should have been. With that mind set people really don't see how we come at people with the individual geckos well being as top priority and they do in fact get butt hurt. After having Echo for only a couple weeks I realized that it is just like owning a dog or cat. They should be loved and cared for as best as they can be which means maybe spending that extra dollar or putting away a few bucks so you have money in case an emergency vet visit is needed.

I myself am learning every day. There is a lot that I know now after research and conversations on this forum but there is still a ton more I need to learn obviously. Which will all come with time. And every new owner needs to get in to this with 100% commitment which unfortunately not all do, and then they get butt hurt when someone wants to tell them they aren't caring for them the best way they could be.

I'm not sure if there was a specific instance in mind that the OP was talking about, but I think it never hurts to be sensitive and patient with other people. I think as long as there is constructive criticism it's fine.
