Perfect conditions for breeding?

I just got two leopards from a small private pet store. The owner said the larger one was a male and about 2 years old and the smaller one was less than a year and she could not determine the sex. She said they had been together for months and they are always friendly with each other. I questioned the male/male aggression issue and male/ female making babies issue. Her reply was that if they are both males and do not fight now they should be ok forever. If it is a male and female the conditions would need to be perfect for them to breed. Any thoughts on this reply?

I don't think it has to be "perfect " in my opinion ... I'm new to this scene (breeding) and my Leo's bred seemingly fine and now even better since I've done my homework ...

I think we use the term 'perfect' a little loosely. In the best case scenario, you'd want near perfect conditions so that you have the best possible shot at breeding healthy babies from happy and healthy parents. Obviously 'perfect' is subjective and not always obtainable or even discernible.

Even with 2 female geckos that have been together long term there's the potential for things to change. I feel that M/M and M/F combinations (if you aren't planning to breed) are too risky to maintain.
