unfortunately now the store can use the money you spent to rescue it to buy a new baby to put in its place.

That really pisses me off. They should be thankful and appreciate these (and all) little animals the most seeing as how they make money off of them. Instead, in this case, they cram them all into the same tank and hope for the best.

Rogue, you clearly did a noble thing. If you walked off with the little guy without even paying you would be my hero for sure.

Isn't there someone we can call when stores do these sort things? Humane Society, maybe?

scoots i tryed to get him as a free rescue but the manager saw nothing wrong with what she was doing so i just bit my tonge and payed the fee. i know its giving them what they want but that doesnt matter as much as know the little one will have a great home and a great life now.

That's sickening. So she didn't understand that chances are the adult geckos would attack the baby?

And for what it's worth I wasn't saying you did anything wrong. No, quite the opposite! I'm very glad folks like you are around to save these little critters. :)

I can't go into certain pet places anymore ( per hubbys orders, LOL). I end up getting mad then getting upset. It is sooooo hard to fight the impulse not to buy every one of these little guys. He/she is a cutie and it is lucky that you came along and decided to give it a home. Unfortunatly, it seems that this whole "pet store" issue is a no win situation. It will take alot of poor little animals dying to get the store to stop buying them to sell. It is just so sad that these poor babies are "throw away" pets in the eyes of anyone official. Best wishes with your little one and you did a nice thing by saving just one. I have several rescues and I LOVE them dearly.

actually its really not that they need to stop selling them ( because that would be lost profit for them and that will NEVER happen) but they need to learn proper housing and care for them, i have yet to see a moist hide or proper subtrate, and they house way to many together, i have though found one pet store near me that listened to what i said, they have alot of leos for sale, when i first went in the had about 12 in a 12" x 12" tank with 1 small hide on sand with a big heat lamp over them, i spoke with the owner , and every week i go back in there to check on them, he now has them in seperate tanks, with 3 hides each on repticarpet, with uths. they are doing great, i buy one every other week from him.:D he listens and i have had a few big chain ones take some advice as well. so i dont think its worth hoping for them to stop selling but we can atleast give them the advice needed to get the leo what it needs to survive till someone with proper knowledge can come adopt them.
