my boyfriend and i recently went to a pretty well known pet store around our area and the care of the leos was horrible. in one little tank i think there were about 8 juvies in it, most of which were dying or already dead. there was one in a big water dish that looks like it drown or something and there was one really tiny one laying in the front of the tank dead. i felt so bad for them...i am deffinatly going to call in and say something wheter they listen to me or not.

also we went to the same store, diff location about a month ago and i bought a crested gecko from them. the sales person told us the wrong information about caring for it and she picked the gecko up wrong. i was afraid she was going to make it drop its tail. the gecko i bought was also housed with four others that were probably 7 months younger then her.

...idk some of these big pet stores really make me sad. i hope more stores can clean up their act on matters like these and take better care of their animals.

once again Im not saying that what the big chain pets stores are doing is right but I would like to say that not every store in the chain treats the animals the same!!! I know my store is much better than others in my chain as far as the care for animals also the mom and pop store near us keeps hamsters with wet tail with well hamsters and leos in a much smaller tank than we do. Yes we put several juvies in a ten gallon tank but you have to realize that they usually aren't there for more than a month at most. It is not there permanent home and when people buy them we make sure that they know the correct conditions.

i understand that not all big chain stores are doing things wrong but what i'm saying is i've been to this chain in several diff locations and they have not taken care of there animals in most of them. there was one store in this chain i went to that actually had decent looking leos and kept them in three diff tanks with the same sized ones. and we went to another big chain pet store and they actually had their leos on carpet. im not saying their all bad i'm just sharing one of my bad experiences and hoping that more big chains can take better care of the animals.
