Petstore selling gecko with a missing limb

Hey gang Im a Animal Control Officer and I got a call for a large chain store selling a Crested Gecko with a compound leg fracture. The person stated that they seen the animal over 2wks ago and told a employee but when the returned the poor thing was stillin the display cage. When I got there the poor fella had his thigh bone sticking out of his body and his leg was missing. I impounded the crestie and had him humainly put down. Also there was no humid hide and all the other geckos had alot of stuck shed to the point they had bleeding abrasions on their heads. Dont worry they will be receiving heavy fines and hopefully have their animals pulled

I'm sorry to hear it had to be uethanized. I'm glad to hear your own the prowl tho we could use someone like you in my neck of the woods. My local petstore is a joke, all the animals look like crap..

Another gecko suffers because the lack of attention from employees. Maybe they were trying to sell a injured gecko so they didnt lose money. Either way I have personally seen situations like this when i go to a pet store.
Makes you feel really bad for the poor fellas.

What a horrible situation and for that poor animal to have suffered that long with that kind of injury.

Sadly, there are too many cases like this that happen all the time, but at least you were able to put an end to it. Your job is tough, so THANK YOU for doing what you can for these poor animals. (I'm sure you probably don't hear that enough.)

That is just horrible. How can people work in a place with animals and not care enough to do something about that. I couldnt do your job.....I know I would loose my temper too often.
