Really sad seeing what happened to these poor geckos. Would anybody happen to have a pic of the 'calcium pockets' that healthy geckos are supposed to have? I'm curious to see what they look like.

Sandra, here are the only pics of Lemsip's tail before it got amputated:

Day 1:

Then 2-3 days later:

The speed of infection was really fast, the whole tail became reddish and soft within 1 week.

Marcia, Bonnie, thanks for the pics :main_thumbsup: It's true that some pictures are hard to look at... But I hope they can help someone someday. Specially the shed and MBD pics, so people know how their geckos can end up if they don't take proper care of them.

I didn't know about the aflatoxic poisoning. I looked around and learned quite a bit about it. I heard about the aspergillus from a two days course I took about food handling but never thought of it applied to geckos!

About the necropsy pics... I saw them in the past but didn't know how to contact the Dr who took them. I may look into it, or maybe just put a link to the website instead of the pics themselves. They are too interesting not to share.

MY normal female is pregnant again, so I should be able to snap a few pics of her while shes still ovulating...

I can get ya the Mouthrot pics. Itll be a while though, probably later tonight.

It would be awesome if you could :) Thanks!

PS: Sorry if the pics upset someone, and thank you mods for putting the warning in the title.

Bump! I'm sending the text and the pictures tomorrow to the ones of the magazine, so if you have any pictures of diseases that haven't been posted already it would be great to have them posted now :) If shared later than tomorrow they will appear only in the complete version of the article, that is in a website, not the magazine.

Thanks!

Wise choice.

You should have seen the amount of sand in the terrarium of my newest. I bought him last night and I filled up a whole kitchen aid bag from glad, just in sand alone. And you could tell his terrarium wasn't cleaning in a while.. :(

All done now though, I prefer paper towel anyways. Easier to clean and safer for them.
