Pictus Geckos??

I have a question for anyone that keeps/breeds these guys. I think they are adoreable and I've had my eye on them for a few years. Problem is, I will not keep crickets in my house. My leopard gecko eats mealworms and phoenix worms. Do Pictus need crickets? For all you with pictus geckos, what do yours eat?

I just dived into the world of pictus less than a month ago. I have a male and 2 females(all housed separately). They have been devouring the mealworms! You do not have to feed them crickets but crickets have more nutritional value. Also, variety is always the best choice.

Ok, I just wanted to make sure they weren't one of those lizards that love crickets and refuse to eat anything else. I have no problems feeding worms of all kinds, just no crickets or roaches and we're good...lol.

So, what have you found the pictus to be like? Personality, care, etc...

Personality: A lot more interesting than leo's. Not really all too squirmy either. Definitely not as calm as a leo though. They have slowed down on the mealworms so I have started to offer crickets. They devour crickets.

We feed ours dubia roaches and he seems to be doing fine (we've had him for about 8 months now), and he's definitely more feisty than either of our two leo girls. Ours will eat mealworms as a treat, but we only give these occasionally.

In my experience, they are great eaters. Anything, really is appealing. Although, Ive tried some wax worms and silk worms as a monthly treat, but find that the two softer worms did not move far enough, nor fast enough to grasp the pictus's attention. Meals, supers and im sure even some flies (depending on size of gecko) would be a great choice! :main_thumbsup:
