Well this year is off and running already. It's February, where did January go?

This yeah will be a full year of fun and exciting things.

This years plans are as follows :

Purchase an Incubator
Breed some geckos
Buy another AP rack
Go to NARBC (anaheim)

These are all great things. But why do i feel such a fear of all of this? I mean i'm supposed to be happy, which i am for the most part. But there is a terrible fear of doing all of this. Maybe it's a respect to the animals and i don't want to screw up. Is it normal to have a fear of what you enjoy? Maybe i'm just nervous.

I would love to hear everyones opinions on this. I find it interesting that i'm actually afraid as well as excited at the same time.

Thanks,

Ryan

maybe your just afraid of all the extra responsibility that goes into breeding and raising leos, i know i was when i first started breeding reptiles, but i had my gurlfriend quit her job so she can do most of the cleaning and other varius acts like takking notes of everything, weights, and all kinds of stuff, so now its alot easier, but if your afraid, just sit down and ponder for a while if your ready for all of this, and if you are then do it

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.

Ryan you're going to be a great breeder, I know it!

I get exactly like that, I have anxiety. It got so bad that I was forced to quit doing things that I LOVED doing (I did martial arts for a while and was doing very well, absolutely loved it) because I was afraid of going every day. All I can say is, don't let your fear keep you from doing things, it really tore my life apart and I still struggle with it now, although I'm learning to deal with it and have seen improvement.

Those seem like great plans! You should have fun and force back the fear of it. Those animals will LOVE you and you know it. :D

I always feel that worry between the time I decide to do something and when I actually have to do it. Here are some suggestions you may want to try:

--think about other times you've been planning to do something and gotten that anxiety feeling. Did you do it anyway and have it come out OK, or not? or did you decide not to do it? It's good to figure out if this anxiety is the normal worry before you accomplish something you've thought about, whether it's your gut saying "no" to this plan (but having said "yes" to other plans), or whether you have an issue with anxiety and carrying out your plans in general.

--make up a pros and cons list for why to do or not to do what you plan. See if that helps you decide

--see if you can accomplish part of your plan instead of committing to the whole thing. A smaller chunk may be more do-able.
Good luck,

Aliza
