...because I am typing this in a hurry. The story goes:
I was doing some selective mating somewhere around 6 hours ago. Now is roughly about 5.05 a.m. One of them involves a male Tremper Enigma. I watched each and every copulation that took place with all pairs including the Tremper enigma. But since this is the first time I paired him, I decided to watch him more compared to the others. He was doing the normal male courting routine i.e. vibrating tail, biting up and down the female's body and copulating. While I was watching the lovemaking, the female suddenly move away from the male. Then I saw a drip of blood coming from the male hemipenis together with a white substance. I am not sure what the white substance is but it could be sperm or even urate. Anyway, I wasn't worried at first because the male seemed normal i.e. licking his hemipenis just like any other males after a courtship. And I thought just like any other males, he would retract his hemipenis soon after copulation. So I just put him back into his enclosure. He had done his job anyway.
But at exactly 4.30 a.m., I decided to check on all the males including the Tremper enigma. That's when I saw his willy was still sticking out. I watched him for a few minutes until I am confident that he wasn't showing it to impress me. This guy has a hemipenis prolapse (pictures attached). I have dealt with many prolapses before. But none involved a leopard gecko. But what the heck, I decided to give it a try anyway. My method usually involves re-inserting the hemipenis before it gets expose for quite some time. That way, it's usually easier to push it back into the animal compared to the tedious task of using a sugary paste/water. This is because it's still fresh and not swollen. So I took but Midwest probe (balled tip), smeared KY jelly and tried to push that thingy back where it came from. To my amazement, it didn't want to go back in. Not even a single milimeter. And the gecko's persistence to keep pushing it out didn't help either. So, after using judicial force and failed, I decided to write something to seek help before I start to hurt the poor thing. What should I do? Before anybody tells me to go to a vet, there's no qualified reptile's one here where I am living. So all this will be DIY. And I need some guidance.
Should I:
1. change his enclosure - take everything out except his water bowl and moist hide.
2. I should use papertowel only and not clean newspaper anymore?
3. use a sugary water/paste?
4. what other products should I use?
5. will this procedure work?
This is stressful. So please bear with me.
For your info please.
Regards
