I don't know if human hormones can effect reptiles, it would be interesting to know. When I was prego I was living with two female cats and my hormones had them acting like loons. Pissy cats + pissy pregnant woman is a bad combination!

Yeah we knew about mammals recognizing hormones but not sure about reptiles. We'll update if anything new happens

Could it be the crickets? Maybe their the more aggressived jamacian field crickets... there's an article linked from geckotimes that marcia wrote. Did she have a bad experience with the feeder and now the smell of the feeder in the viv is freaking her out? Id detox the viv and hides then see how she acts. Als the reflection is a big posibility. You can stick some self adhesive tiles on the inside walls to kill the reflection problem or just place them up temporairly to see if it changes behavior with ou peeling and stiking as they can be difficult to remove.

I can't be sure what type of crickets they are from petco/petsmart I do know that much. She has reported back to normal behavior go figure right after my gf's menstrual cycle ended literaly on the day. I'm going to keep an eye on that but as for now things are okay. We also have printer paper on the inside back wall that during the phase she was in, couldn't stop staring at. Either the menstrual cycle or reflection could be the problem. The reflection however, when covered up didn't stop the behavior as immediate as when the cycle ended. I'll definitely update when the next cycle happens to fill others in!

There's an article link to gecko times article that includes pix. Sry I can't link to it I'm using my phone. You ould ceck golden gat geckos posts as it was marcia that wrote and researched the subject. As far as your gals cycle, it is very possible that you female leo could have been exhibiting a gender conflict issue as your leo will smell the pheramones from your gals cycle. I do canine animal behavior and know that both gender dogs respond to me differently when I'm cycling versus when I'm not. It'll be interesting to see how it goes with her next cycle.

I used to go out to some Florida swamps on a regular basis.. poking around, looking at all kinds of stuff. NEVER was it a good idea to go when it was that time of the month! I never thought of leopard geckos being affected by it, but perhaps it's a possibility.

So 2 days before the cycle is suppose to begin and we notice the s shaped tail waving and skittish behavior. Prior to that, shes been her normal self. 2 months in a row we can still chalk it up to a coincidence but if it happens next month I'd have to say there's a direct correlation between my gf's menstrual cycle and the gecko getting defensive
