I have mine in sand they with an UTH, no moist hide... they always seem to lay in the hottest part of the tank right on top of the UTH. Usually pretty easy to spot since you can see where they dig to lay. Be careful the eggs are SUPER fragile and they are hard shell so they seem to almost break if you just even look at them funny.

UTH = Under Tank Heater. The males will dig too. Just keep checking the cage near the warmest part my bet is they will lay there.

Seems they are gravid for 2-3 weeks from when I notice them starting to plump up. But again I haven't had mine that long so I am no expert just what I have noticed with mine so far.

We should at some point start a husbandry thread for stenodactylus species...I have a hard time finding answers to questions for my petrii and it would be good to bounce off some ideas and questions concerning housing and husbandry.

Acoording to someone in my petrii thread my supposed 'male' is gravid and I have seen 'him' digging right under the heat bulb.Haven't found eggs so far...

They look like they might be at the start of being gravid. The eggs are about the size of a pea. Make sure if you incubate them you access to pinhead crickets for the juvies. There is a really long thread on the Geckos Unlimited site under other gecko species....Good luck..THey are some of my favorites!

Tough to tell from the pics, but looks like they have a while to go if they're gravid. My females lay about every 9-14 days. I've heard a few people say up to 3 weeks between clutches.

I've had the best luck retrieving eggs from dry sand. The shells are paper thin.... the weight of the wet sand alone may lead to issues when it comes time to remove them. I incubate their eggs in bottle caps filled with dry sand placed atop a moist medium.

Hope this helps.
