We bought a young leo 9 days ago, he's approx 4 months old and about 4 inches long. He hasn't eaten much since we brought him home and when he does he sometimes regurgitates.

The first nite we had him we put 3 crickets in, he ate 1. The next day he had thrown this back up. We tried him with more crickets but would just watch them walk past and wouldnt bother with them. We've tried standard mealies, he ate 3 a day or two after and he brought those back up the next day.

We then bought some mini mealies, which he was eating fine for a couple of days, although only about 2 a day. Then 3 days ago we gave him 2 mini mealies and a wax worm to try, the next day he regurgitated one worm but we arent sure if this was a mealie or wax worm.

Yesterday he ate 2 mini mealies, threw one of these up, then later on ate 1 more mini.

We are very concerned. He will eat the mealies whenever they are put in front of him, we are just worried as he doesnt seem to be able to keep them down all the time.

He also hasnt had a poop yesterday or today.

Please Help! :(

That should be hot enough. Stress can cause regurgitation. I usually encourage people not to feed new geckos for a couple of days because of that. But after 9 days he should be keeping food down. I would be concerned about health issues if your husbandry is all correct. You may have to take him to the vet to check for parasites. Did you get him from a breeder or pet store? If he's from a breeder I would contact them and see what they have to say. If he's from a pet store and you can't afford the vet bill I would return him.

Does his belly look normal or does it look like he's impacted. If he were housed on a loose substrate before you got him that could also be a cause.

We bought him from a pet store, he was on reptile carpet when we saw him but the woman in the shop said he had been on sand for little while before they had lots of complaints about them being on it so they changed it.

We've just checked him and he's thrown up a little brown thing??? duznt luke like a mealie but its all it can be, but he hadnt eaten since yesterday. And he's just eaten 5 mini mealies straight from his bowl, which he has never done since we bought him.

May sound a bit stupid now but we arnt sure if this is poo or something he has brought back up. We assumed he brought it up because it was near his worm dish around the same time he just ate 5 mini mealies. Can someone tell us if this looks like something to be worried about

I know this sounds stupid now, its just when we first got him, his poop looked nothing like this which is why we thought this was abnormal.

I'm a newbie so I may not know what I'm talking about but a gecko book I read recently said too much heat can make them regurgitate. But I wouldn't think your is too much heat. I dunno hope your gecko feels better soon.

If they get too hot they could regurge... If they eat too much they could regurge... if they eat and are too cold they could regurge...and if the prey is too large they could regurge..
