Somehow, Fido managed to escape from his tub. I'm 100% sure the lid was on tight, so he must have muscled his way out. I can't find him anywhere. Our house in under construction (remodel), so there are a million places he could be. I could definitely use some tips. I already put his open tub on the floor along with some mice. I've checked under the racks, fridge, and stove. What can I do? I'm worried about him and I'm also worried about him getting to the baby geckos.:(

I know he was in the tub last night and I found him missing this morning.:(

it might be messy but place flour around door ways so you can see what room he went into also take a heat lamp place and make a hot spot on the floor place a hide so mabe he will stay there

I plan on putting baby powder in the doorways and there is a lot of heat tape in that room. I'm worried that he might already be out though and we have dogs.:(

Can you keep the dogs outside for a while? Have you tried PMing Gregg to see if he has any hog-specific suggestions?

The dogs are shih tzus, so they can't be out in the heat for more than 10 minutes.

I've set up a few traps, put mice down, put his tub down, put bags around so I can hear if he goes over them, and put powder in front of the reptile room. I don't know if he got out of there already though. We only keep it closed with a baby gate to keep the dogs out. I keep the door open because it gets so warm in there with all the heat tape.

I feel like such a bad mom.:( I still can't believe he was able to get out. I'm so afraid that we'll never find him.:(

Awww I am sorry Kristi, I hope you find him?/her. Its so frustrating losing a pet in the house and not being able to find it.

I didnt think of the flour trick... thats a good one I will try for my missing gecko. Thanks!

You have been looking in all the obvious places... You need to start looking in all the non-obvious spots...

Remember it is in a hogs nature to burrow... You may want to look in corners, along the wall, under rugs, in a bunched up towel on the floor and so on...

I would not worry much about him getting to your geckos... Chances are he will have no interest in them...
PM me or call me if you need any other help...

Thanks Gregg! There is still no sign of him.:( I don't know how a snake can hide so well. We're going to tear apart the closet in the gecko room today and see if he's hiding in the blankets, shoes, etc. I've never lost a reptile before and this is stressing me out.

Snakes are sneaky little ninjas, keep looking and don't give up on him. A friend of mine lost an albino Cal King over a year ago, then last month her boyfriend went out to mow the lawn and found it hanging out in a bush.

Thanks. He is still MIA and I'm devistated. We've looked everywhere. I'm so afraid he got under the house or outside.:( I'm not giving up hope though. I miss my Fido.:( I'm going to switch my snakes from Iris tubs to tubs that have latched on them. I never would have thought Fido could get out and now I'm worried about the others.
