If i were to make racks out of shelving(or melamine whatever pleased you), drilled the holes, but didnt put it together, just made it flat and put it in a box, would you guys buy them? I could make 40 bin baby rack(without bins) for 75 dollars. Sell it with bins for like, 175. All you guys would have to do is drill the screws in, so it would come in a 3 foot by 3 foot box by 2 feet(approx i dont know). The idea is it would be much much smaller than most racks. Oh ya and i could put in flex watt, it would be wired you would just have to wire it. People could get customs, like 2 levels of shoebox sized, 1 level of medium and one level of large sweater box. Would anybody buy this, the main thing is it would be easily shipped, and would be much much cheaper than any other rack out there.

I build my own so I had to vote no.

Anyway.....If you were planning to ship them it would still cost a lot since the weight would be an issue. And if you sold them locally you might as well have them put together. There are other issues as well but these are 2 things to think about first.

Ya, i figured they would cost like, 40-50 or somthing to ship. There is a local convention here, but i think it would be easier for people to bring downstairs or into the reptile room, then assemble. I figured since the one at NARBC cost a ton, like 200 for 8 tubs i could offer some that are affordable. I live like, 10 minutes from the convention so i could easily bring them to the convention. And i was just curious how many people were interested in them.

Due to the cost of shipping, I think it would be way to expensive to justify the purchase. Robin's right, melamine is heavy stuff (as is any compressed wood product for that matter). :main_yes:

Sounds cool but you might want to find another type of wood or plastic to build them out of. Melamine is like trying to move boulders around the room.

No Thanks.....Prefer Lightweight Wire from Walmart

Wire, light weight, Easy-clip adjustable shelves, air space can accommodate plastic boxes or aquariums....can even set up lamps underneath for heating. Walmart / Cost $30......houses 15 12qt. rubbermaids or will take on 12 10 gallon aquariums end facing out.......I buy used aquariums from fish people terminating the hobby. $3 each..........Bought a 55 gallon tank, wooden stand, florescent lighted hood with natural rocks, etc. ..... $40.........Deals are everywhere on fish stuff to convert for gecko people....take the fish too and sell them to you local fish shop........Take care / HJ
